Handmade Teaware
It's been a few months since I stopped by TianZhiFang 田之坊. It's a maze of small alley ways with charming boutiques, a blend of Chinese souvenirs, local brands, restaurants, and some crafty products. Had Thai for dinner at one of my favorite spots, Tai Thai. Then I went to another regular stop, Eco Goods. (I think the store name changed at this location.) They used to carry bunch of DIY and shabby chic products. Now selection changed quite a bit to more jewelry, homeware, and even UGG-type boots. Picked up a beautiful tea set consisting of tea pot, tea server, and 4 cups. Love the glossy celadon blue in contrast with sandy body (color & texture). They are hand made, 868CNY for the set. Picked up 2 more larger tea cups with lids, 168CNY each. Fabulous part is the store-wide sale of 60% so I got everything for under 600CNY.

Tinted Mint - Love Card + Envelope
My handmade Valentine's Day card: LOVE
1) Laser cut Robert Indiana's LOVE onto reclaimed wood.
2) Hand stitched it to paper of rice straw, made by Prokritee, a fair trade group in Bangladesh.
3) Enclose in handmade envelope, sewing from polka dot print wax paper.

DIY, Eco, Handmade in Craft, Graphic Design, Paper Goods Tinted Mint Laser Cut Calendar - 1st Prototype
Making 2011 calendar sets for my Tinted Mint shop. Here's an experiment with a combination of laser cutting and engraving/etching on 0.6mm thick card board.
I find it is best to put together sample artwork that will test different size fonts, line weights, etc. and experiment with laser settings for the material I'll be using. Seeing these results really help in how I should refine artwork for the final run.

Another cool product I found at Renegade SF. These are porcelain jars made by making molds of vintage, glass canning jars, finished with a clear glaze inside. The designs change depending on new finds. I completely drooled over these, wanted a small collection of them. However, I was very good and held back. Claire of heydey design also makes beautiful ceramic jewelry.
