Speckled Clay Bowls and Plates

My first completed stoneware pieces from Intro to Wheel class at Clay by the Bay.

Clay: Laguna Clay WC-403 Speckled Buff, Cone 5
Glaze: Matte White Pebble

Forming the bowl on the wheel.

Trimmed.

Glazed.

While the greenware form of the bowl was trimmed to very smooth surface, the final bowl is quite sandy and scratchy after firing. Quite a nice contrast against the smooth glazed parts, but always need to remember to use a placemat underneath so it doesn't scratch the table.

Slab plate. Rolled out flat to about 4-5mm thick, cut to size, then gently press into paper plate. 3 out of 6 plates cracked. So either the plates were rolled out too thin, dried too fast or combination of both.
